Getting started
Opening the launcher
My App Spot lives in your menu bar (not the Dock). Click the menu-bar icon, or press the global shortcut (⌘ ⇧ Space by default) to bring up the search window anywhere.
Launching apps
Start typing an app's name; the best match is selected automatically. Use ↑ ↓ to move, press Return to launch, or press ⌘ 1 to ⌘ 0 to jump straight to one of the first ten results.
FAQ
The shortcut Cmd Shift Space doesn't work.
macOS may reserve ⌘ Space for Spotlight, and some combos clash with other apps. Open Settings > General and set a different global shortcut. You can also disable Apple's Spotlight shortcut in System Settings > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Some of my apps don't show up.
The app is sandboxed and scans the standard locations automatically. If something is missing, open Settings > Index & Permissions and grant access to the folder your apps live in.
How do I pin favorites?
Open Settings > Favorites and pin up to ten apps. Each gets a ⌘-number shortcut and appears at the top of the launcher. You can also press ⌘ P in the launcher to pin the selected app. Favorites are an optional unlock; you can unlock them free for the session at any time, or buy a one-time unlock to keep them forever and support development.
I bought the favorites unlock on another Mac.
Open Settings > Favorites and click Restore purchase. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and restore for free.
How do I make it open at login?
Turn on Settings > General > Open at login.
How do I quit the app?
Click the menu-bar icon and choose Quit, or use the Quit button at the bottom of Settings > General. (⌘ Q just closes the current window; it won't quit the app.)
